XCON: Content Conversion Failures Result in Reroutes to Another Server in the Site

The information in this article applies to:


SYMPTOMS

When an outgoing X.400 message fails content conversion, it may be re-routed to another server in the site that has an X.400 connector with a suitable address space.


CAUSE

The logic behind this process is that another route may not require the same content conversion and so the message may get sent.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 service pack that contains this fix.
