XFOR: Migration Wizard Stops Processing Messages When Passed Bad Attribute

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Migration wizard stops migrating a user's files from a Lotus cc:Mail post office before finishing all messages.


CAUSE

The Export utility provided by Lotus creates entries that contain binary data in the text file used to import the users messages. The binary data can inadvertently contain bytes that have text equivalents.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 Service Pack that contains this fix.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. Microsoft has created an updated version that can in many cases works around the incorrect information in the text file provided by the Export utility.
