Non-Unicode Characters Are Displayed as Empty Blank SquaresID: Q213032
|
When you enter non-unicode characters into a Windows CE device, the characters are displayed as empty square boxes instead of the character you expect.
This issue occurs because Windows CE Devices support only Unicode formats for extended characters.
You can use the first 128 codes in Unicode that map to standard ASCII characters.
For example, the ASCII 163 (Pound Sterling) sign in ASCII is ALT+156, and if you enter ALT+156 on a Windows CE device, a blank square is displayed. If you enter ALT+163, the unicode code for the pound symbol, the pound symbol is properly displayed.
