SUMMARY
This article contains a list of issues you may encounter if you are using
an international version of Microsoft Windows CE Services.

The following list contains summaries of known issues you may encounter if
you use an international version of Windows CE Services.
- Some optional components may not work in international versions of
Windows CE Services.
- If you save a file on a PC Card, you may not see the file when you use
the PC Card in a mobile device that uses a different language version of
Microsoft Windows CE.
- You cannot synchronize files between a desktop computer and a mobile
device if they use different language versions of Windows CE Services
and Windows CE.
- You cannot use the Western European or World Wide English (WWE) version
of Windows CE Services on a desktop computer running a Japanese version
of Microsoft Windows 95.
- If you use the Western European or WWE version of Windows CE Services,
you are unable to connect to a Handheld PC (H/PC) or Palm-size PC (P/PC)
running the Japanese version of Windows CE.
- When you install Windows CE Services, if you close the Network tool in
Control Panel, you may be prompted to shut down Windows. If you click
Yes to shut down and restart your computer, you quit the Windows CE
Services Setup program.
- The Western European version of Windows CE Services synchronizes
the default .Scd file for the Italian, Spanish, or Brazilian Portuguese
versions of Microsoft Schedule+.
- The Japanese version of Windows CE Services works only on the Japanese
version of Windows 95.
- Mobile devices running a Japanese version of Windows CE can connect only
to a desktop computer running a Japanese version of Windows CE Services.
- The Japanese Desktop Software for Windows CE CD-ROM does not contain the
following programs:
- Microsoft Exchange Update
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Microsoft Schedule+
- Microsoft Windows Dial-Up Networking Upgrade version 1.2
- Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 3
- You may be unable to synchronize files if you use the Japanese versions
of Windows CE Services and Microsoft Windows NT on the desktop computer.
NOTE: This issue has been fixed in Windows NT Service Pack 3.
- You may need to use the COM2 port on the desktop computer to connect
a mobile device running the Japanese version of Windows CE.
- Use only alphanumeric characters and the hyphen (-) character for the
Device Name on your mobile device. Kanji or Wide English characters can
cause problems with ActiveSync.
- Some fonts may not convert correctly from Pocket Word format (.pwd) to
Microsoft Word format (.doc).
