SUMMARY

This article describes the Exceptions For Universal Scrolling list used by the Universal Scrolling feature in the IntelliPoint software version 2.2.

MORE INFORMATION

You can use the Exceptions For Universal Scrolling list to specify which programs you want to have the ability to scroll in using the wheel.

You may want to turn Universal Scrolling off in a program that uses the wheel for other purposes. For example, in some programs rolling the wheel allows you to zoom in and out in a document. If you want to be able to use the wheel to zoom and not scroll, turn off Universal Scrolling for that program.

By default, the Exceptions For Universal Scrolling list contains a list of programs that use the wheel to provide functionality other than scrolling or that have known compatibility problems with the Universal Scrolling feature.

To add a program to the Exceptions For Universal Scrolling list, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Mouse, and then click the Wheel tab.

  3. In the Universal Scrolling area, click Exceptions.

  4. Click Add, and then locate the executable file for the program you want to add.

  5. Click the program's executable file, and then click Open.

  6. Repeat steps 4-5 for each program you want to add to the list.

  7. When you finish adding programs to the list, click Close, and then click OK.

  8. Close Control Panel.

To remove a program from the Exceptions For Universal Scrolling list, follow these steps:

  1. In the Exceptions For Universal Scrolling list, click the program you want to remove.

  2. Click Remove. When you are prompted to confirm the removal of the program, click Yes.

  3. Repeat steps 1-2 for each program you want to remove from the list.

  4. When you finish removing programs from the list, click Close, and then click OK.

  5. Close Control Panel.
