"Always Show Internet Explorer Radio Bar" Option Missing

SYMPTOMS

The "Always show Internet Explorer Radio bar" option may be missing from the Advanced tab in the Internet Options dialog box.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if the following registry key is missing or damaged:


   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\ 
      Multimedia\Radio 


RESOLUTION

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:

Method 1


Using Registry Editor, verify that the following registry key and its associated values exist. If they do not exist, create them:


   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AdvancedOptions\ 
      Multimedia\Radio 
This registry key should contain the following values and value data:

   Value            Value data
   --------------------------------------------------------------

   CheckedValue     Yes
   DefaultValue     No
   RegPath          SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Radio\Settings
   Type             Checkbox
   UncheckedValue   No
   ValueName        AlwaysShowRadio
   Text             Always show Internet Explorer Radio bar 

Method 2

If you want the Internet Explorer Radio toolbar to always be displayed, change the AlwaysShowRadio value data to yes in the following registry key:

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/Radio/Settings
