Install On Demand

The Install On Demand feature specifies whether to automatically download and install Web components. Typically, a Web page may need to download items to display the page properly, or to perform a particular task.

Automatically Check for Internet Explorer Updates

The "Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates" feature specifies whether to check the Internet to see if a newer version of Internet Explorer is available. With this option enabled, Internet Explorer checks the Internet for a newer version approximately every 30 days. If a newer version is available, you are prompted to download it.

Disabling These Features

The Install On Demand and "Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates" features are enabled by default.

Disabling the Install On Demand Feature

To disable the Install On Demand feature in Internet Explorer:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.


  2. Click the Advanced tab.


  3. Under Browsing, click to clear the Enable Install On Demand check box.


  4. Click OK.


Disabling the Automatically Check for Internet Explorer Updates Feature

To disable the "Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates" feature in Internet Explorer:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.


  2. Click the Advanced tab.


  3. Under Browsing, click to clear the Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates check box.


  4. Click OK.
