When you try to connect to a secure (HTTPS) Web site using Internet Explorer on a Windows NT 3.51-based computer that communicates across a Microsoft Proxy 2.0 server using NTLM (challenge/response) authentication, you are prompted for your security credentials (user name and password) three times, regardless of whether or not the credentials are valid. You then receive a "Access is denied" error message.
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to computers experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next service pack that contains this fix.
