Cannot Uninstall SP2 After Installing Encarta Virtual Globe 99ID: Q227041
|
After you install Microsoft Encarta Virtual Globe 99 on a computer with Internet Explorer 4 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed, SP2 may no longer appear in the list of programs that can be removed by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.
This problem occurs because the following registry key is removed when you install Encarta Virtual Globe 99:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\IE40
To work around this problem, reinstall Internet Explorer Service Pack 2, and then uninstall it.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem does not occur if you install Encarta Virtual Globe 99 before installing SP2.
