Computer Hangs Once After Installing Internet Explorer

SYMPTOMS

When you install Internet Explorer version 4.01 on your Windows 95-based computer running the Norton AntiVirus program, your computer may stop responding (hang) the first time it restarts. This behavior does not reoccur on subsequent restarts.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer version 4.01 for Windows 95. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to computers experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft does not recommend implementing this update at this time. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services for additional information about the availability of this update.
