SYMPTOMS

If you open Outlook Express when a connection to the Internet is already established, you may receive the following error message:

MSIMN caused an Invalid Page Fault in module unknown.
This may result in three consecutive dialog boxes containing the same error message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if CleanSweep Deluxe is installed and the Smart Sweep (Csinject.exe) tool is loaded at startup.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

  2. Type the following commands (press ENTER after you type each command):

  3. NOTE: Renaming the Csinject.exe file causes Quarterdeck Smart Sweep not to automatically start when you start Windows. You must manually start Smart Sweep to monitor the installation of any programs using CleanSweep.
Step 2: Disable the Registry Key
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

  2. Locate the following registry key:

  3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
  4. Right-click the Csinject.exe value, and then click Delete.

  5. On the Registry menu, click Exit.

  6. Restart the computer.
