Err Msg: Internet Explorer Could Not Open the Search Page

SYMPTOMS

When typing a Web address in the Address box without beginning the address with "http://", and then press ENTER, you may receive the following error message:

Internet Explorer could not open the search page.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if your Internet Explorer connection settings are not configured properly, or if you are not currently connected to the Internet.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, verify that your Internet Explorer connection settings are configured properly, or connect to the Internet:

If you are not connected to the Internet, skip to step 2. If you are connected to the Internet, verify your connection settings are configured properly. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Connections tab.

Connect to the Internet manually, or run the Internet Connection wizard to create a connection to the Internet.
