SYMPTOMS

When you start your computer or when you start Internet Explorer, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module Apitrap.dll
Iexplore caused an invalid page fault in module Apitrap.dll
Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll
Iexplore caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll
You may then view a blank desktop.


CAUSE

This issue can occur due to an incompatibility between Internet Explorer 5 and the Apitrap.dll file that is installed by Symantec's Norton Cleansweep version 4 program.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Symantec to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.

An updated Apitrap.dll file that corrects this issue with Internet Explorer 5 is available from the following Symantec Web site:
