SYMPTOMS

When you run Internet Explorer for the first time, you may receive the following error message:

You were previously running a customized version of Internet Explorer. Do you want to keep these customizations?

CAUSE

This error message can be displayed if you have previously installed a version of Internet Explorer that was customized by a third party (for example, by your Internet service provider).

RESOLUTION

If you click Yes, the custom settings from the third-party version of Internet Explorer are retained. If you click No, the custom settings are overwritten by the default settings for Internet Explorer.
