SYMPTOMS

When you connect to a Web site, you may receive the following error message:

The parameter is incorrect


CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you connect to a Web site that uses a language other than the language(s) installed on your computer. In other words, the Web server and client computers do not have a common language pack installed.


RESOLUTION

Internet Explorer 4.0 and Later

If you are using Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, install the language pack for Internet Explorer for the language used on the Web site you are trying to view. The procedure for doing this is described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Versions of Internet Explorer Earlier Than 4.0

If you are using an earlier version of Internet Explorer and the Web site you want to view is running Microsoft Internet Information Server, the issue can be resolved by applying a language pack on the Web server for the language you are using. Contact the Web site's administrator and request that the language pack for the language you have installed on your computer be installed on the Web server.
