For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
To change the default Search bar size in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
1. Using Registry Editor, modify the ExplorerBar value data in following
registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
so that the second pair of values is one of the following values:
00 - normal screen
01 - normal screen
02 - half screen
03 - 3/4 screen
04 - full screen
For example, if you want to change the default Search bar size to half
screen and the ExplorerBar value data is currently "ff 01 00 00 61 93
45 00," change the 01 value to "02" (without quotation marks) so that
the value data reads "ff 02 00 00 61 93 45 00."
2. Quit Registry Editor, quit Internet Explorer if it is running, and then
restart your computer.
