This article describes how to prevent the Internet Explorer "Welcome" tour from running when a new user logs on to a computer. This may be useful to reduce start up time, or to work around issues with the tour starting properly.

If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency
Repair Disk (ERD).
The Internet Explorer Tour can be enabled or disabled in the registry on a per-user basis. To prevent the Internet Explorer Welcome tour from running when a new user logs on to a computer, you must create a user account with the preferred settings in the registry and then copy
these settings into the default user profile in the Winnt\Profiles\Default User folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TipsChange the value of the SHOWIE4 value from 1 to 0. Note that a value of 1 means the tour is enabled, and a value of 0 means the tour is disabled. You can change this value to re-enable the tour at a later time.
