IEAK Restrictions Are Not Applied Correctly in Windows NT

The information in this article applies to:


SYMPTOMS

After you install Internet Explorer and configure Internet restrictions on a computer running Windows NT, the Internet restrictions may not apply when you log on to the computer.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if you do not have Administrator permissions for that computer.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Start the IEAK creation wizard and update all the download components, and then close the wizard.


  2. Update to use the lates Iedkcs32.dll and Amdparse.dll files.


  3. Start the IEAK creation wizard, and disable AVS Checking in the Advanced options.


  4. In the IEAK creation wizard, add the 1905.exe hotfix self-installer and use the following command line parameters:


  5. /q:1 /n:v /r:n
  6. Install Internet Explorer.


A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Internet Explorer 4.01 service pack that contains this fix.
