Incorrect Steps in Outlook Express Help for Purging Messages

SYMPTOMS

When you read the "Deleting a message" topic in Outlook Express Help, the instructions to purge a deleted message from an Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) server using Outlook Express are incorrect.

RESOLUTION

To purge deleted messages from an IMAP server, use the following steps:

1. Click the message, and then click Delete.

2. If your messages are stored on an IMAP server, click Purge Deleted

   Messages on the Edit menu to remove the deleted messages from the
   folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook Express 4.0 and 4.01 for Windows 95 and Windows NT, and in Windows 98.
