Internet Explorer Appears to Stop RespondingID: Q214622
|
When you start Internet Explorer, the browser window may appear quickly, but may then appear to stop responding (hang) momentarily before the browser is actually available for use.
This issue can occur if you have a large number of Favorites in the Favorites folder, or a large number of files in the History folder.
To resolve this issue, reduce the number of Favorites, or reduce the number of files in the History folder:
NOTE: The following procedure may not substantially increase the browser start up time. Start up time can vary due to connection speed with your Internet service provider (ISP), low-quality connections, and so on...
This behavior is by design.
This issue may be more noticeable if you previously used Internet Explorer version 4.01 or earlier. Internet Explorer version 4.5 starts differently than Internet Explorer version 4.01 or earlier versions start. Internet Explorer 4.5 loads the browser window first, and then loads the History and Favorite information. Earlier versions of Internet Explorer load the History and Favorite information first, and then load the browser window.
