Internet Explorer Displays Incorrect Year on FTP Files

ID: Q218939

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

The year listed for some files on an FTP site may not be correct for files on a UNIX-base FTP server when the files are viewed with Internet Explorer. In most cases, this problem occurs when the current year is used for files. For example, files created in October, 1998 may be displayed with an October, 1999 date.

CAUSE

Internet Explorer's UNIX FTP date extraction routine assumes the year for each file to be the current year.
