Media Player Does Not Start from Link on Active Desktop

SYMPTOMS

When you click a media file link on a Web page that is part of the Active Desktop, Media Player does not start. However, an embedded link to the same file within the page works correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
