How to Obtain Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1

You can download Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 from the following Microsoft Web site:

In addition, an upgrade patch of Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 is available that provides a smaller download for customers who are already running Internet Explorer 4.01 and wish to install SP1. No new fixes or features are added to the upgrade patch, and customers who already have SP1 do not need to install it.

NOTE: The upgrade patch upgrades only Internet Explorer 4.01. If you are using an earlier version of Internet Explorer and attempt to install the patch, the full-download version of Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 is installed instead.

You can choose from the following component packages:

Browser Only: (13 MB) Includes the Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 browser, Java support, and DirectX multimedia technologies. (Does not include true Web integration [Active Desktop].)
Standard: (16 MB) Adds Microsoft Outlook Express, true Web integration, and Microsoft Wallet to the Browser Only installation.
Full: (25 MB) Adds Microsoft NetMeeting, Microsoft NetShow, Microsoft FrontPage Express (formerly FrontPad), Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard, and Microsoft Chat 2.0 to the Standard installation.

NOTE: These are the same versions of Internet Explorer and components included with Windows 98.
