New Folder Is Not Selected

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new folder in Windows Explorer by pointing to New on the File menu and then clicking Folder, the new folder may not be selected so that you can rename it.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are viewing the current folder as a Web page.

WORKAROUND

To cause a new folder to be selected when you create it, use any of the following methods:

Turn off Web view by clicking View as Web page on the View menu.

Create the folder using the mouse by right-clicking an open area in Windows Explorer, pointing to New, and then clicking Folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
