Problems with Lotus Notes and Proxy ServerID: Q186202
|
When you try to install Lotus Notes, you may receive a general protection
fault (GPF) error message. Also, you may experience the following symptoms
in Internet Explorer after you install Lotus Notes:
This issue can occur because Lotus Notes changes a registry setting that is associated with the proxy server.
To resolve this issue, upgrade to Lotus Notes version 4.61 or contact
Lotus to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue. To
completely disable Lotus Notes from writing to any of Internet Explorer's
registry settings, add the following line to the Windows\Notes.ini file:
NOSYNCINTERNETSETTINGS=1
NOSYNCINTERNETSETTINGS=1
The resolution in this article also prevents Lotus Notes client Proxy configuration from overwriting Internet Explorer's Proxy configuration information.
For example, if Internet Explorer is configured to use a proxy, and Lotus Notes client is configured to use another proxy, each time Lotus Notes starts, it resets the proxy settings for Internet Explorer.
Example:
Internet Explorer is configured to use: Proxy1:80
Lotus Notes is configured to use: Proxy2:80
When Lotus notes starts Internet Explorer is now configured to use Proxy2:80.
