Saved Web Pages Are Not Displayed ProperlyID: Q198997
|
When you save a Web page in Internet Explorer as Web Page, complete, and then try to view this saved Web page, the page may not be displayed correctly, and you may receive one or more of the following error messages:
A runtime error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug?
The page cannot be displayed
Problems with this Web page might prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly.
Done, but with errors on page. Double-click here for details.
This behavior can occur because images and other documents are not saved correctly if the Web address (URL) associated with the document is dynamically constructed by either JavaScript or VBScript within the Web page. Internet Explorer does not parse the script in a Web page when saving the Web page, and so it is unable to determine when an image or document URL is constructed from within a script.
To work around this behavior, save the Web page locally by clicking Add to Favorites on the Favorites menu, and then clicking the Make available offline check box to select it.
This behavior is by design.
When you save Web pages, "Web page, complete (*.htm, *.html)" is selected by default. This setting stores the Web page as a relative link and not an absolute link. Relative links use URL paths that indicate the location of an item relative to the current folder, without giving a specific drive or root folder. Absolute links use URL paths that indicate the drive and folder in which to find an associated file.
