Branding and Configuration Information Not Applied in Serverless Package

ID: Q206248

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) to build an ISP Serverless package, the Instal.ins file does not contain the settings that the user specified in the IEAK, and therefore does not brand the proper configuration and phone settings.

Other symptoms include having the incorrect phone number, TCP/IP settings, and home page, incorrect links and favorites, and the icon in the top right is set to an ACME logo.

RESOLUTION

To correct the problem, the IEAK Wizard needs to be run twice.

  1. Run the IEAK Wizard as noted in the IEAK Help files and enter in all customizations desired.

The wizard will ask for the Custom directory; this directory should have been created per the instructions with the Signup.htm. Cancel.ins, and Instal.ins files.

  2. When complete, go to the destination folder for the package and copy the Install.ins file to the Custom directory, overwriting the existing Instal.ins

  3. Note: You will need to rename the file to Instal.ins. This file name has just one "L." If you copy it over as Install.ins, this will not work!

  4. Run through the wizard again, and point to the same directories with the exact same settings. Do not make any changes. This will import the newer Instal.ins file with the correct settings into the package.

  5. If you install normally, it will brand the browser with the correct settings and phone number.
