Windows Script Host Breaks Autoproxy of Internet Explorer 3.0ID: Q194961
|
After you install the Windows Script Host, Internet Explorer no longer looks to the .pac file for its proxy settings. Instead, the browser attempts to contact the Web site directly by trying to bypass the proxy settings and fails with the following error message:
Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site HTTP://<SiteURL>. A connection with the server could not be established.
When you install the Windows Script Host, the Jscript.dll file is changed, which produces the symptoms mentioned above.
To fix this problem, you must upgrade to Internet Explorer version 4.x.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Windows Script Host version 5.0.531.7.
