When you attempt to post Web content to America Online (AOL) or Global Network Navigator (GNN) using Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard, you may receive the following error message:
An unknown error occurred.
America Online (AOL) and Global Network Navigator service (GNN service) servers no longer support the Webpost providers that are included with Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard versions 1.1 and earlier. AOL and GNN do not provide Webpost providers for Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard version 1.5.
To resolve this problem, use the appropriate method for your version of Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard.
To post Web content with Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard version 1.5, use the FTP service provider option. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point
to Internet Tools, and then click Web Publishing Wizard.
2. Click Next.
3. In the Select A File Or Folder dialog box, type the appropriate text
in the File Or Folder Name text box.
4. Click Next.
5. In the Name The Web Server dialog box, type the appropriate text to
describe your Web server in the Descriptive Name text box.
6. Click Advanced.
7. In the Service Provider box, click FTP.
8. Click Next to continue through the Web Publishing Wizard.
To post Web content with Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard version 1.1 and earlier, use the Other Internet Provider Webpost provider. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point
to Internet Tools, and then click Web Publishing Wizard.
2. Click Next.
3. When you are prompted with the following
To select the file or folder that you want to publish, click the
appropriate button or type the full path...
type the appropriate text in the File Or Folder Name text box.
4. Click Next.
5. When you are prompted with the following
Select the name of a Web server from the list. To add a Web server to
the list, click New
click New.
6. When you are prompted with the following
Select Your Internet Service Provider from the list. If yours is not
listed, select <Other Internet Provider>
Click Other Internet Provider.
7. Click Next to continue through the Web Publishing Wizard.
To post Web content to a Web server with Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard, you must be able to access the location in which the content is stored. This function can be handled by Webpost providers (including FTP). To post Web content with Webpost providers, the Internet service provider (ISP) must support the Webpost providers.
