ID: q158698

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

Using Microsoft Chat Server, if a persistent channel contains a non-null DATA field, the PICS and ban entries of that channel will be corrupted when they are replicated to another server.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade the system to Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0. This will load an updated copy of the Chatsvc.dll file. The fix prevents the corruption from occurring by correctly setting the DATA field length in the chat server-to-server message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0.
