XFOR: INS Server Hangs w/ Listgroups Cmd. on UNIX NNTP Clients

SYMPTOMS

The listgroup command is not supported by the Nntpsvc.dll file.

CAUSE

The listgroup command is supported because of a code problem that exists in Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0.

RESOLUTION

This command is supported in Service Pack 1(SP1). A new class has been added to the Nntpsvc.dll file, which handles the listgroup command.

Upgrade your MCIS Internet News Server (INS) to MCIS SP1. This will update the Nntpsvc.dll file, and correct the problem.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0.
