SYMPTOMS
When you install one of the programs listed at the beginning of
this article, you may experience any of the following symptoms:
- When you restart the computer after you install the program, your
computer stops responding (hangs) during the reboot, or it restarts
in Safe mode.
- When you restart the computer, Microsoft Windows 95/98 starts in
16-color VGA mode.
- When you restart the computer, you see the Windows logo, and then
you see a blank screen.
- After you restart the computer, you see a black screen or horizontal
lines running across your display, and the computer stops responding
(hangs).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur for the following reasons:
- The driver for your video adapter is incompatible with
DirectX.
- When you install the program, your video color palette is set to High
Color (16 bit), and your video resolution is set to 1024 X
768.

Types).
