Audio and Video Unavailable in NetMeeting Through a Proxy ServerID: q194797
|
When you participate in a NetMeeting conference, you may be unable to receive audio and video from conference members.
This behavior can occur if you connect to the Internet through a proxy server using Microsoft Proxy Server version 2.0, and you have Microsoft Winsock version 2.0 installed on your computer.
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and
Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete
Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in
Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency
Repair Disk (ERD).
To resolve this behavior, use Registry Editor to add the DisableWinsock2 DWORD value with a value data of 1 to
the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Audio\NacObject\
NOTE: If you disable Winsock version 2.0 functionality in NetMeeting and
revert to Winsock version 1.1, Winsock 2.0 is still installed, however
NetMeeting does not use the Winsock 2.0 feature set.
This can also be used for NetMeeting 3.01. The path for the registry change is different, however. It is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\conferencing\rrcm
