XFOR: Access Violation Installing News Service on DEC Alpha Comp

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to install Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) 2.0 or Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 with the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) service on a DEC Alpha computer, an access violation may occur when the installation process is finished.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
