PRJ98: Duration Changes If Task Split Is MovedID: q176308
|
In Microsoft Project 98, if you move a split portion of a task, the duration of that task may change.
This behavior occurs if the task has an assigned resource that uses a
calendar other than the project calendar (for example, the Night Shift
calendar).
For example, let's say you are using the Standard calendar (8:00 A.M. to
5:00 P.M.) as the project calendar. You assign a resource that uses the
Night Shift calendar (11:00 P.M. to 8:00 A.M.) to a task and then split the
task. When you move the split portion of the task, Microsoft Project
attempts to schedule the split using the Standard calendar. Because the
resource is based on the Night Shift calendar, the split portion is
adjusted to coincide with the working time of the resource. If this carries
over to the day after the task should have been finished, that portion of
the task will be lost.
To work around this problem, turn off the Round bars to whole days option by following these steps:
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service
Release 1 (SR-1).
