PRJ98: Project Stops Responding When Opening a ProjectID: q183454

In Microsoft Project 98, when you open a project, you may receive one of the following error messages, and you will no longer be able to open the project.
If you click Details, you receive the following error message:This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the Problem persists, contact the program vendor.
WINPROJ caused an invalid page fault in module WINPROJ.EXE at <address>.
An Application Error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

This problem occurs when you open a project that was saved while the PERT view was active and the Show Arrows option was turned off.
To correct this problem, install Microsoft Project 98 for Windows Service
Release 1 (SR-1).
To work around this problem temporarily, if you want to save a project
while the PERT view is active, make sure the Show Arrows option is turned on. To turn on the Show Arrows option, follow these steps:
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service
Release 1 (SR-1).
