PRJ98: Errors Using Microsoft Project Online User's Guide

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, when you click on a link in the Online User's Guide you may receive one of the following error messages, depending on your Web browser:

In Microsoft Internet Explorer:

Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site [driveletter]:\VALUPACK\CDONLINE\FILES\[filename].htm.

The system cannot find the file specified.
In Netscape Navigator:
Netscape is unable to find the file or directory named: [driveletter]:/VALUPACK/CDONLINE/Files/[filename].htm

Check the name and try again.
Where [driveletter] is the drive where you are running the file from.


CAUSE

These error messages are caused by invalid path references for hyperlinks contained in the Online User's Guide for Microsoft Project 98 that shipped on the Microsoft Project 98 CD.

NOTE: Files that were included with this version of the Online User's Guide for Microsoft Project 98 have dates of 9/12/97.


RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, use one of the following resolutions:

Resolution 1

Obtain the Microsoft Project 98, Service Release 1 (SR-1) CD-ROM. An updated version of Online User's Guide for Microsoft Project 98 is included.

Resolution 2

An updated version of the Online User's Guide for Microsoft Project 98 is available for download as a self-extracting, self-installing file called olg.exe. For more information on the Updated Online users guide, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

This problem was corrected in Online User's Guide for Microsoft Project 98 that shipped with Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
