PRB: MSDN Library Error During Uninstall

SYMPTOMS

When you uninstall the MSDN Library, the following error appears:

MSDN Setup Error : RemoveCollection g_ccolCollection.Open(collectionname) dwError = 7

NOTE: Sometimes dwError has a different value, but the same resolution applies.

CAUSE

The file hhcolreg.dat might have been corrupted. This file is located in the \\WINDOWS\HELP\ folder under Windows 95 or Windows 98 and the \\WINNT\HELP\ folder under Windows NT.

RESOLUTION

Rename hhcolreg.dat, and uninstall the MSDN Library.

This is a troubleshooting step that might fix the problem. If the file is renamed please reinstall any other collections that you want to use. This includes, but is not limited to:

Multiple releases of MSDN.
Other products that ship with a collection.
