PRB: Can't Access MMF File Programmatically Via MAPIID: Q233243
|
When this problem occurs, you are unable to find documentation for programmatic access to read or write to MS Mail (*.mmf) files via MAPI or other published interfaces or technologies.
When a Microsoft Mail message is delivered to a Microsoft Mail recipient, the message is stored locally on the recipient's machine in a data file that usually ends with the MMF suffix. The file structure of the MMF file is proprietary to Microsoft Mail and is not published for public consumption. Programmatic or access other than directly through the MS Mail client is not supported.
If upgrading from Microsoft Mail to Exchange, the upgrade wizard converts the data from Microsoft Mail (MMF) format to Microsoft Exchange PST format.
NOTE: Programmatically calling the upgrade wizard is also not supported and no APIs are exposed to facilitate this process
This behavior is by design.
