PRB: Errors When Sending Mail with CDONTSID: Q214667
|
When attempting to use CDONTS to send e-mail through the Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service, one of the following errors may occur:
Error 429: ActiveX component can't create object.
Error 0x80070003: The system cannot find the path specified.
CDONTS relies on certain registry keys to tell it where the IMS will pick up mail. When the IMS is installed, it will add the needed registry keys only if Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later is installed.
Ensure that Internet Explorer 4.0 or later is installed before installing the IMS.
This behavior is by design.
CDONTS relies on some components that are distributed only with Internet Explorer 4.0 or later. If the IMS determines that Internet Explorer is not installed, it knows that CDONTS cannot be used and does not create the relevant registry keys.
