Client Cannot Render Stream Using HTTP Distribution for Station Service

SYMPTOMS
Windows Media Player clients cannot connect through HTTP to a broadcast distribution stream; however, they can connect through the MSBD protocol.
CAUSE
This behavior is by design.
WORKAROUND
Unicast clients should not connect to HTTP distribution streams directly. They should connect to the a server with HTTP streaming (not distribution) enabled. To enable HTTP streaming, do the following:
- Start the Windows Media Administrator.
- Select Server Properties.
- Select the HTTP Streaming and Distributing tab.
- Select the radio button for Enable HTTP streaming for Windows Media Unicast service.
- Apply the settings and restart the server.
