SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to add ASF or WMA content that that has already been encrypted by the Rights Manager, you can not re-encrypt the content. The Rights Manager Packager will show that the content creation failed after about 60 seconds.

If you highlight the failed content item in the Packager's Content List and select the Details button, the Packager log file will be displayed. When you try to protect already protected content, the following error message occurs:

A digital signature has been detected in this ASF file and therefore cannot be edited by this tool.

This file has already been protected.


CAUSE

The Rights Manager Packager cannot re-encrypt a media file that has already been encrypted.

This behavior is by design.
