Err Msg: Unable to Process Selected Media File. A Required Audio Decompressor Is Not InstalledID: Q235458
|
When you select a .mp3 file as a source file for the Alpha version of the Windows Media Encoder and you attempt to convert it to .asf, the following error message occurs:
Unable to process selected media file. A required audio decompressor is not installed on this machine.
Although the FhG MPEG Layer-3 codec is not installed on the Alpha version of Windows Media Tools, the encoder still lists .mp3 as a possible input format for the tool.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows Media Services version 4.0.
The Windows Media Rights Manger is also effected. When you try to encode a .mp3 file with the Rights Manager Packager, the following error message occurs in the log file:
Unable to process selected input file. A required audio decompressor is not installed on this machine. Input file : encoded.asf
Output file : afterchop.asf
Script file : script.txt
Error: The input file could not be found. Unexpected error opening input file. Err=0X80070002
