SYMPTOMS

When you connect to the NetShow Encoder the following error message is returned:


   Failed to connect to all NetShow services on server '<Server
Name>'.
   Either you do not have access rights to administer the server, NetShow
   services are not currently running, or NetShow has not been installed
   on this server. 


CAUSE

This error can occur when the user account does not have sufficient security rights on the NetShow server.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, confirm that the following is true.

If both the server and the computer that you are performing remote administration from are in the same domain:

If both the server and the computer that you are performing remote administration from are in workgroups and not domains: If one computer is participating in a domain, and the other computer is not participating in a domain:


MORE INFORMATION

When administering a NetShow server, the administrator uses NTLM to authenticate itself to the NetShow server using the credentials you are currently logged in with. The NetShow Administrator authentication occurs transparently; as a result, you will not be prompted for a username and password.
