Error: The Content Cannot be Played at the Selected Speed

SYMPTOMS

When you play ASF content that is being streamed from a NetShow server, you may receive the following error when attempting to fast forward or rewind: 


   The content cannot be played at the selected speed


CAUSE

The ASF file has been created for streaming over a 28.8 Kbps connection. When you attempt to fast forward this content, the required bandwidth needed by the resulting stream exceeds that of a 28.8 Kbps connection, and causes the error message listed above.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in NetShow version 2.0.
