The NetShow Real Time Encoder and NetShow Administrator require DCOM (distributed COM) to be installed when you work with these applications on Windows 95.

The NetShow Real Time Encoder and the Netshow Administrator require DCOM for certain functionality. Windows 98 and Windows NT have DCOM installed by default. DCOM is available only as an add-on for Windows 95. In order for the NetShow Encoder or the NetShow Administrator to use DCOM, DCOM must be installed prior to running Setup for the encoder or NetShow Administrator.

If DCOM is not installed, the following functionality will be affected:

For the NetShow Encoder:

Use of the NetShow PowerPoint Presenter

Use of Stream Aliases from the encoder

Real Time Encoder Automation

For the NetShow Administrator:

Remote administration of NetShow servers will not be possible.

If you have installed DCOM for the first time after the installation of the NetShow Real Time Encoder or Administrator, you must run the Setup for the Encoder or the Administrator again.
