ACC2000: "Couldn't Find Input Table or Query" Error Message

SYMPTOMS

When you run a query, you may receive the following error message:

The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find the input table or query 'Table1'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly.
When you open the query in Design view, the field list is empty, but the query grid still refers to deleted tables or fields.


CAUSE

The query will continue to refer to the deleted table or fields so that you can determine what was deleted.


RESOLUTION

Modify your query so that it refers to tables or fields that do exist.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Create a new table with one field. Save the table as Table1.


  2. Create a new query based on Table1. Drag the field from the field list to the query grid.


  3. Save the query as Query1.


  4. In the Database window, delete Table1.


  5. Open Query1. Note that you receive the error message:
