IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry.
Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if
a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring
the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help
topic in Regedt32.exe.
Advanced: Requires expert coding, interoperability, and multiuser skills.
SYMPTOMS
If you manually change the string "DataCodePage" in the Registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Xbase
to anything other than "OEM" or "ANSI" and try to export using the dBASE 5 ISAM driver, you receive the following error message:
Invalid setting in EXCEL key of the Engines section of the Windows
Registry.
CAUSE
An error is expected when you set the "DataCodePage" string value to
something other than "OEM" or "ANSI," which are the only valid options;
however, the error message does not refer to the correct Jet ISAM. It
should be Xbase instead of Excel.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article.
