ACC2000: Access Stops Responding When You Click Properties for Envelope Toolbar

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and a Microsoft Access project (.adp).
SYMPTOMS
If you have a data access page open with the E-mail header displayed, and you try to view the properties of the Envelope toolbar in the Customize dialog box, Microsoft Access stops responding.
RESOLUTION
To avoid this problem, do not try to customize the toolbars when in a page with the E-mail header displayed. Before you try to customize the Envelope toolbar, save and close the page.
If Access is not responding, follow these steps:

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open the Task Manager. If you are in Windows NT, you can also right-click on the Windows Task Bar and click Task Manager.

In the Task Manager dialog box, click Microsoft Access. In Windows NT, make sure you are on the Applications tab.

Click End Task.

When the confirmation dialog box appears, click the End Task button on it as well.
Access then shuts down.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Start Access and create a new database.

Click Pages under Objects in the Database window, and then click Create data access page in Design view. Leave the new page open.

On the File menu, point to Send to, and then click Mail Recipient.
- Click OK on the "Create a message..." confirmation message.

Right-click the menu bar and click Customize on the shortcut menu. The Customize dialog box appears.

On the Toolbars tab, select the Envelope toolbar, and then click Properties.
Note that Access stops responding.
