ACC2000: Can't Use Back Button After Clicking Hyperlink on Page

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and a Microsoft Access project (.adp).


SYMPTOMS

If you open a data access page from within Microsoft Access and then click a hyperlink on the page, the browser opens a Web page, as expected. However, you cannot click the Back button in the browser to return to the page in Microsoft Access.


RESOLUTION

If you want to use the Back button immediately after clicking a hyperlink on a page, open the page in Web Page Preview. To do this, open the page in Design view or Page view, and then on the File menu, click Web Page Preview.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.


  2. In the Database window, click Pages under Objects, and then click New.


  3. In the New Data Access Page dialog box, click Design View. Click OK.


  4. On the Insert menu, click Hyperlink. In the Text to display box, type MS Support. Type http://support.microsoft.com/support in the Type the file or Web page name box, and then, click OK.


  5. On the File menu, click Save As. Type Page1 in the Save Data Access Page '<Page name>' To box. Click OK. Note the location of the HTML file, and then click Save.


  6. On the View menu, click Page View.


  7. Click MS Support.

    Note that the Web page opens in the browser; however, the Back button is not available.
